so are our buses. Only problem is that the bus drivers are asses. With a capital "S." Here's the story....a few year back they went on strike for higher pay. Then we found out they were making more than teachers and firemen in our state. They were trying to emulate NY transit workers, but realistically Hawaii simply can't afford to dish out that rate of pay. Everybody was pissed off. Moreso because they're about the only public employees getting 100 percent retirement and health insurance benefits.
We had a similar problem with our teachers a few years back. They were promised a rather large pension without a tax rate to support it. Next year, we saw a huge tax increase to fund the erroneously promised plan.
Strangely, our schools continue to ask for more money every year and they always get it.
