Science Fair

Warning: May contain geeks

Yes, he's wearing an argyle sweater vest. Yes, he sounded a lot like Professor Frink. Yes, no one there had any idea what the hell he was talking about. In case you can't quite make it out, the title says

Parallel 2x2 Combinatorial Chemical Synthesis Using a Single-Layer Microfluidic Chip
p.s.
Suck it!

Yeah, "Ha ha ha," but guess who won a forty-thousand-dollar scholarship and free trip to the Star Trek convention or whatever it was in Houston? Damn right he did.

Matching calculators just looks like science. All numbers and whatnot. This one wins on visual impact.

In the interest of science; concave, convex, and specular self-portraits

Don't know how the science groupies do it in your neck of the woods, but around here, this is how we roll.

In case you can't read the title on this one, it says, "I Really Didn't Want To Enter the Science Fair" Taking what seemed like most of the day to maw it down, this particular cadet left unimpressed.

Sidebar: Is Seasonal Affective Disorder real?

I don't know. You tell me.

A young scientist finds time away from Halo 3 to explore the accuracy of the trebuchet.

A roomful of budding young scientists and qualified judges, and I'm the only one who can figure out that if you close the door on this big 'ol fancy-lookin' white box rightcheer it will stop the annoying beep we've all been hearing for the past hour?

Musta all been ascared off by the sign down there that says "corrosives".
Anyway, you're all welcome.

Has the boredom of this literally killed you yet? No?
Here...

"Clues to the Timing of Early Gastric Acid Secretion in the Mouse: (An entirely pointless) Gene Expression Study"

A half-hour of that should just about do in anybody.

I know; I'm probably making it sound worse than it is just to be all entertaining to my anonymous and non-existent websters out there.

The plain truth of it is, Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) really is cutting-edge technology. This is why I made sure to take a picture. I mean, just look.

The obvious question at this point is probably "How the hell did you get in here?", but I can promise you that, at the time, I was much more concerned with how I could get out.

I'm a proud science groupie. One of these days you might find me standing outside a laboratory, waiting for the scientists to come out, just so I can say, "Dude, that was a *righteous* paper surveying the research on carcinogenesis compared with other epigenetic phenomena. Uh...need help carrying those test tubes?"
