The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge as seen from Miller's River Littoral Way

I'm always fascinated by those mast bridges or whatever the term is, supporting the roads at the center line. We don't have them here.

This is apparantly the widest cable-stayed bridge ever built. It's very well proportioned. It's a nice addition to the skyline, and it's not nearly the big, imposing structure that it might seem from the distance. It's a pretty short span and it fits seamlessly into the roadscape such that you are on the bridge before you realize it. And no tolls.

One of the few things that went close to 100% right with the Big Dig.

A Google street view tour, starting from the south tunnel exit, pretty much shows you what I'm trying to describe.
